What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a pure science that is founded on the rock of reason and flourishes in the principles of natural law. This form of treatment is also an art as its application will vary from case to case and is interpreted differently by each individual practitioner. It is a form of manual therapy that is applied with an in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, assessment, chemistry, mechanical principles and has a sound footing in the philosophy of health sciences.

Through gentle adjustment of the body, an osteopathic practitioner works to stabilize the structure and balance the body to remove obstructions that restrict the flow of nerves, arteries, veins and lymphatics. Only when the body is balanced, and structures are adjusted to normal, can we begin to heal our naturally designed self-healing, self-regulating mechanism.

Andy Walton is certified by the Ontario Osteopathic Association and has graduated from an extensive 4-year, 4400-hour program at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy which focuses its training in the original principles and concepts as taught by the founder of our profession, Dr. Andrew Taylor Still 1828-1917.

Andy has lived in Norwich township for forty years. He is married for nearly 37 years, he and his wife have 3 children, and 4 grandchildren. He comes from a background of 30 years as a skilled tradesman. He was introduced to osteopathy as a patient several years ago. Through many conversations with his practitioner, Andy began to be intrigued with how the human body works mechanically. He eventually decided to make a bold career change, and go back to school. Andy is a graduate from the 4 year M.OMSc program at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy. He brings decades of life skills, compassion and integrity to osteopathy. He looks forward to serving the needs of his local community with enthusiasm and passion for many years to come. He sees osteopathy as both curative and preventative. It is a purely natural and relaxing way to bring balance to the many tension lines throughout the body. The law of nature dictates that the body naturally moves toward health. As a practitioner, it is his job to find those asymmetries or roadblocks, and normalize those tissues, so the body can naturally move toward health. Through gentle manipulation, he can use the soft tissue to affect the hard tissue, and hard tissue to affect the viscera, while appealing to the nerves, arteries, veins and lymphatics to ensure proper fluid dynamics, leading to overall improved health.
